As its second scheme, Thyme 2 Grow now manages the Milburn Road Community Garden in Goldington, Bedford. This is through agreement with bpha who own the site and are keen to see it developed for community benefit.
Having recently suffered some neglect, funding application are in progress to support the sites transformation.
This will enable its use throughout the year for running Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) sessions, while still maintaining some community access for relaxation and enjoyment.
As part of the transformation, we are keen to consider the needs of the entire community from the young through to older people. A key feature is a raised bed accessible to people in wheelchairs as well as design elements to help the garden provide a safe and welcoming space for people with dementia.
Thyme 2 Grow hopes to establish partnerships with the Church Lane Community Centre, local schools, charities and health care providers in order to develop STH sessions as well as other activities.
